Welcome, woof and miaou to our pets market leaderboard. This is a new addition to our existing roster of UK home improvement and gardening categories that we track monthly to find out which pet websites are topping the pecking order and answering customer search demand.
The pets market leaderboard shows which market competitors are making the most of recent shifts in customer demand online in four key categories: 1) live animals 2) pet medical 3) pet products and 4) pet services.
1. Live Animals

Check out this first market leaderboard to discover which websites won the greatest share of customer demand for searches for live animals. ‘Live animals’ refer to animals normally considered suitable as pets within a domestic home or garden. These include dogs, cats, chickens, snakes and guinea pigs. But not horses or pigs.
For this category, we tracked 2,378 things people ask for, expressed in 10,766 different ways. Searches covered a range of topics from general and self-help questions about pets to what makes them tick. We then tracked how this demand was met by 6,721 market competitors.

We tracked 675 things people asked for, expressed in 1,995 different ways. We then tracked how this demand was met by 2,295 market competitors.
